Connecting Rural Women in the Landscape

Connecting Rural Women in the Landscape is the focus of a workshop that is being held at the Tumut Racecourse. The one day workshop specifically designed for rural women is on Wednesday 29th of April. The forum brings together a wide range of inspiring presenters, covering some of the complex issues and challenges facing rural women.

“The workshop aims to provide an opportunity to form networks and access information on relevant topics facing rural women,” said Riverina Local Land Services Officer, Cherie White.

“The day will focus on issues that affect rural women on a day-to-day basis with topics to include communication, farm safety, career matters, mental and physical health and wellbeing.”

Speakers on the day:

Edwina Beveridge

Edwina and her family own and run Blantyre Farms, a highly productive pig, sheep, cattle and cropping enterprise.

Early adopters of technology they have doubled the size of their pig farm and expanded their enterprises. Edwina’s efforts were recently acknowledged being awarded 2014 NSW-ACT Rural Industries Research & Development Corporation Rural Women’s Award Runner-Up.

Lisa Green

Lisa Green from Career and Life Matters specialises in working with women to achieve amazing results and extraordinary satisfaction.

Lisa comments that as women we are often so busy looking after everyone else that our own needs and dreams are put on hold.

Through her program Eat Cake, Lisa identifies strategies and plans to help women move forward.

Pam Kensit 

Pam and her husband operate a grazing property in an isolated rural area. Pam has some colourful tips on how to deal with the everyday challenges of farm life, whilst coping with the added pressures of battling ovarian cancer, isolation and depression.

  • Tammy Holzheimmer, Commins Hendricks

The workshop is an initiative of the Riverina Highlands Landcare Network and Riverina Local Land Services in collaboration with Tumut Shire Council, NSW Department of Primary Industries, Intereach, GrainCorp, Commins Hendricks and WorkCover.

The forum will run from 9.00am to 3.30pm. Registrations are essential and can be made by contacting Cherie White on 6941 1402.
